Since the birth of Instagram, lots of accounts share art contents around the world. Some profiles are designed for the well-balanced composition among the posts, others just show pictures. Some adopt a clear strategy – such as showing their collections or spreading knowledge – some do not. Both cultural institutions – such as museums, art galleries, art fairs, magazines – and private users have tested themselves by running Instagram profiles. Some are more followed, some are not so well-known, despite being very often well-endowed with artistic value.
Moreover, both art and Instagram are influenced by and connected to the world we live in. Every day they are inspired and affected by present and past days. In the art’s case this process produces an actual, tangible result, called artwork. On the other hand, in Instagram’s case the artwork is displayed, shown, visible to everyone in real time before being exhibited in a museum or in a gallery. Thus, it is a good opportunity for both sides, for art (and artist) to be visible; for Instagram to be recognized as a tool to make others visible.

This project – consisting of an Instagram profile and a blog – aims to draw yet another connection between art and the world, by populating a geographical map with one artist per country. A good balance between well-known artists and the less known ones is set. By doing it, you can broaden your own knowledge, learn something new, travel around the world, by using only a smartphone or a computer.
